Kids Goju Basics is intended to aid Benoit's younger Tigers, Dragons and Youth who are interested in learning and practicing at home. It is also for parents to learn the same Goju basics that their children learn. Goju-Ryu Basics has two sections. This page is the Text Section. The Photographic Sections is accessed by clicking on the link corresponding to the Karate Moves in the respective table below. These sections provide basic information, to help an eager student or parent. These virtual sections do not replace real class time with an experienced instructor, but may be what a focused young karate student needs until their next class.
The text guidelines are straight out of the Dragons Handbook (available at the office). Select a topic from the Goju-Ryu Basics menu.
All basic skills photos were selected by Sensei Donna and approved by Shihan Don.
The download times for the Basic Skills vary due to the number of photos in the selection and the bandwidth of your internet connection. i.e. Kata Ichi Bon will take longer to download due to the number of photos.

Promotional testing occurs every two to three months. When a Dragon is proficient in all the testing elements in their respected belt level, they are notified of their elegibility and testing date(s). The Tigers program has no belt testing as it is a very basic introductory level for very young children.
Students are required to wear full uniform on testing days and ensure that they are on time.
Every child is different, therefore we need to be flexible in assessing their progress. Benoit's ensures that their students feel good about themselves and feel good about what they learn in the martial arts.
Motivating young children over a period of time can be quite challenging . Benoit's has taken this into consideration and has introduced two new belts to the Dragons program, a Purple Striped White Belt and a White and Yellow Belt. The new progression for this Dragon Incentive Program is as follows (in order starting at the first level) :
Children will continue to earn stripes to show progression within their belt level.
Benoit's Goju-Ryu Karate-Do is always dedicated to improving and enhancing programs that benefit the children.
