Congratulations to Justin Lanteigne, who captured Silver at the Karate Nationals being held in St. John, New Brunswick this 2008. Justin can now advance to the Pan American Games being held in Chile late August.
Congratualtions also go out to Benoit's other National Team competitors... Rebecca Mailloux who captured a Bronze as well as Mia Giommi who came out in the Top Six.
We, at Benoit's are exceedingly proud of these competitors.
Three local teens have been travelling to Toronto to practice with the provincial team every second weekend.
Rebecca Mailloux, Mia Giommi and Justin Lanteigne are on the Karate Ontario Provincial Team and are gearing up for the 2008 National Karate Championships which will be held in Saint John New Brunswick on July 3 to the 5th.
They are members of Benoit's Martial Arts Xtreme Team. Rebecca and Justin competed on the Provincial Team last year in Vancouver and this is Mia's first year. They will be competing against competitors across Canada for a position on Canada's National Team.
Successful competitors are invited on the National Team and they will compete at the Junior Pan Am Games this August in Santiago, Chile.
Karate Ontario is the amateur sport governing body for Karate in the Province of Ontario that is recognized by the government of Ontario. Karate Ontario is also the provincial counter part of the National Karate Association of Canada who in turn is recognized by Sport Canada. Similarly, the NKA is associated with the World Karate Federation. The WKF is the only Karate organization recognized by the International Olympic committee.
